The 2023 Ocean Globe Race announces Ocean Village in Southampton UK as start & finish port

Over 160 sailors are scheduled to set sail from Ocean Village on September 10, 2023, aboard 15 yachts to embark on a 30,000-mile race around the world. The race will cover four legs and include passing through the three great capes of Africa's Cape of Good Hope, Australia's Cape Leeuwin, and South America's Cape Horn. The international mixed-gender crews, traveling on privately-owned, pre-1988 classic sailing boats, will not be using GPS, high-tech equipment or computers for navigation. Instead, they will rely on a sextant, paper charts, and stars for navigation and will communicate using HF SSB radios. The journey is expected to conclude in April 2024.
